Mechanical Engineer - 9214 Engineering Department, Rockville, MD
We are currently looking for a Mechanical Engineer in our Rockville, MD office location.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Design and develop mechanical solution for our secure access points.

Create Mechanical drawings and build prototypes when necessary.

Perform thermal calculations and perform thermal testing.

Documents mechanical design, components and electrical features (i.e. cables, connectors, ground straps, etc.) with direction from the lead CAD designer, mechanical designers and electrical group engineers. Writes/maintains documentation on all design procedures.

Understands the mechanical engineering and drafting standards and procedures.

Prepares various charts, graphs and other drawings to facilitate the work of company functions other than the Engineering Department.

Conducts parts searches, obtains quotes and initiates purchase of parts for prototype designs.

Initiates procedures, Exchange Orders, Bills of Material and other product documentation.

Meets with related engineering departments to ensure proper modifications are met, as needed.

Conducts preliminary testing on newly designed products and existing product changes.

Performs special projects as directed by department manager.

Participate in project teams and all activities related to the development of new products and sustaining existing products.

Plan and complete projects in a research/design/manufacturing environment with formal design processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
-
Mechanical engineering degree preferred.

Four-year training in mechanical design/drafting program from an accredited technical college, university or trade school plus 4 years experience.

Familiar with ANSI drafting standards, Metric System Standards, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance measurements.

Excel, Word Processing and other office programs.

Designs products on a daily basis using the PRO-E-CAD system software.
