Junior Software Engineer - Irving, TX - 10006

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: To develop and provide technical leadership in the development of technologies, products or processes, to meet cost, schedule and performance goals. Follow the Product Life Cycle process, participating in the creation of schedules, design specifications, and project deliverables.  Actively communicate and coordinate with other engineering teams, providing constructive inputs and timely feedback.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 
• Designs, develops, and tests the design, development, and test of new products or major modifications to products having significant complex technical aspects.
• Applies expert knowledge of applicable technology and industry/company standards to investigate new technologies, methods, and test procedures.
• Provides technical leadership on major new product programs and for several major products or on an entire product line. 
• Provides technical and schedule input to project planning process, including developing detailed plans for assigned products and features to achieve schedule milestones.
• Reports project progress per schedule.
• Develops Graphical user interface for dispatch console product.
• Requires knowledge of C++ and data structure.
• Requires 0-2 years of experience
• Establishes and maintains good inter/intra departmental communications and the highest level of credibility with coworkers at all levels.
• Responds to special assignments/projects as directed by management, with an attitude and willingness conducive to getting the job done.  Responds with a level of urgency consistent with the situation.
• Exhibits desirable and appropriate professional behavior including leadership, sense of urgency, independent judgment, teamwork, ability to get along with others, creative thinking and personal integrity to provide for a cohesive, productive unit dedicated to the achievement of corporate goals.

 KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or a closely related discipline.  Master’s Degree preferred.
 
 
 EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
 
• Capable of quickly learning and applying unfamiliar tools to meet deadlines.
 
 SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
 
• Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.
• Must be a self-starter and require minimal supervision.
• Ability to acquire skills in new sophisticated tools.
• Exhibit a moderate level of leadership ability.
• Must possess technical expertise in most of the following areas.
o Perl
o JavaScript, HTML, browser DOM manipulation
o Linux/Unix (including some bash/ksh/sh scripting)
o Relational database development using SQL, triggers, and stored procedures
o Apache web server
o IP networking/development skills ( e.g. write services that create and read from sockets, understand the difference between UDP and TCP, define a netmask for a given subnet)
