PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:

To perform the engineering testing and installation of the entire infrastructure product line, managing and maintaining the Infrastructure Lab, assist in IP network configuration, provide assistance and be primary liaison between engineering and other departments for product related issues, provide customer support, trade show support, analyze and troubleshoot customer issues, perform simulation and automation development. Follow the Product Life Cycle process, participating in the creation of schedules, design specifications, and project deliverables. Actively communicate and coordinate with other engineering teams, providing constructive inputs and timely feedback.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform documentation of feature description and technical requirement specifications.
  • Works with development and test engineers to understand product design, develop test plans and assist in a smooth development process.
  • Provides technical and schedule input to project planning process, including developing detailed plans for assigned products and features to achieve schedule milestones.
  • Perform testing of the product during engineering testing and help troubleshoot problem found during system testing.
  • Maintains the Infrastructure LAB.
  • Manages the Engineering testing of the entire line of system products and ensures product performance before the product is released for System Testing.
  • Performs and helps in product installation, configuration and testing for customer, staging and other areas such as trade shows.
  • Performs onsite customer visit to test product and troubleshoot product issues.
  • Establishes and maintains good inter/intra departmental communications and the highest level of credibility with coworkers at all levels.
  • Develops automation and simulation of system products.
  • Applies expert knowledge of applicable technology and industry/company standards to investigate new technologies, methods, and test procedures.
  • Reports project progress per schedule.
  • Provides technical leadership on major new product programs and for several major products or on an entire product line.
  • Requires 2-6 years of experience
  • Responds to special assignments/projects as directed by management, with an attitude and willingness conducive to getting the job done. Responds with a level of urgency consistent with the situation.

KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or a closely related discipline
    Master’s Degree preferred

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

  • Capable of quickly learning and applying unfamiliar tools to meet deadlines
  • 2-6 years of web based/server based application development/testing
  • Strong knowledge of Perl and Linux internals and experience dealing with large servers.
  • Experience with IP networks. Knowledge of Cisco equipment and configuration.
  • Experience in Telecommunication system is desirable.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must have a keen eye for troubleshooting.
  • Must posses the personality and desire to work with and integrate different products.
  • Must be willing to perform regular testing of system products.
  • Linux/Unix (including some bash/ksh/sh scripting)
  • IP networking/development skills. CCNA preferred
  • Perl and/or other scripting language
  • Apache web server
  • Experience in automation/simulation development. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must be a self-starter and require minimal supervision
  • Ability to acquire skills in new sophisticated tools
  • Smart with great attitude
  • Flexible and willing to dig deep
  • Willing to work extra hours during crunch times
  • Exhibit a moderate level of leadership ability
  • Ability to travel (5%-10%)
